Finances are a touchy and often complicated subject for many young professionals. There are countless pitfalls as well as lessons that many have had to learn the hard way and in today’s economy, it would be rare not to use credit to pay for large purchases, such as car repairs or any type of emergency situation. Credit can be an overwhelming topic, but understanding credit is critical for managing one‘s finances responsibly, as credit can affect many aspects of your life. Join YNPN Portland on June 7th from 6:00pm-8:00pm in the first installment of our Adulting Series.
YNPN Portland is partnering with local nonprofit Financial Beginnings for this workshop. By the end of this session you will understand:
- What credit is, how it works, and why you need it.
- The different ways of establishing credit.
- Your responsibilities as a borrower.
- How to monitor credit using a credit report and credit score.
- Loans and credit cards and how to borrow responsibly.
This workshop will be a wonderful opportunity to build your confidence in your own finances.
Doors open at 6:00pm for registration and networking. Workshop begins at 6:30pm. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
YNPN Portland charges a small fee to cover the costs associated with providing professional development events, but do not want the price to be an obstacle in attending. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to request an exception to the fee.
