Come see an iconic Portland September event with YNPN!
Thousands of Vaux's Swifts migrate through the area during September and one population has been roosting at Chapman Elementary School in NW Portland. This site is one of the largest known roosting sites of these migrating birds. Join us for a sunset watching of these birds spiraling into the school's chimney while avoiding birds of prey nearby.

Notes: Bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages
Portland Audubon reminds us to be a good neighbor to Chapman-area residents by:
- Not expecting to find on-street parking.
- Leashing and picking up after dogs, before, during, and after the event.
- Picking up trash and not littering on school grounds.
- Knowing it is illegal to consume alcoholic beverages or smoke on public school grounds.
After bird watching, there's an optional dinner at Grassa to continue picnic conversations.
If you are unable to get to the Swifts event, feel free to meet us at Grassa on NW 23rd around 8:00pm.
